Printing

  • There are a couple easy ways to print while on campus without having to bring your own printer:

  • Release stations  - Printers, attached to release stations, are located across campus, but most of them are in the Clough building or Student Center. Printing to these stations costs 4¢ per black and white page and 19¢ per color page. However, all students are given $2.20 worth of funds on their Buzzcard each week solely for printing, which should be enough in almost all circumstances. In order to print to a release station, first print from the computer you are at, then walk up to the release station. Scan your BuzzCard at the top of the keyboard, and it will list your pending print jobs (print jobs are removed from your list after 90 minutes). The screen will also display the amount that is left in your weekly printing allotment. When you click on a print job in the list, it will tell you how much that will cost to print, and you can print it from there. You can then pick up your pages from the printer located near the release station.

  •

  • Laptop Printing to Release stations: You can download printing software from the Office of Information Technology, OIT (they have a bunch of free software for students; you should check it out if you haven’t already) that allows you to print from your computer to any of the release stations. The most versatile printing software is called Black All Campus. It will allow you to print black and white pages from your personal computer to any connected printer on campus. Once the software is installed, when printing, select the software as your printer. You will then be prompted for your username. After entering your Georgia Tech username, you can then release your pages from a release station. If this package fails, don’t worry. You can still print from print.gatech.edu.

  • From library: The computers at the library and at other computer clusters are able to print to the release stations.

  • At the Student Center: Go to the printing room located on the 2nd floor of the Student Center behind the information desk. There is a computer cluster with 2-3 release stations there.

  • Residence Halls - Some residence halls have release stations, including Woodruff which is connected to the dining hall.

  • Central Printing: If you want to print something big (as much as several hundred pages), central printing can be helpful. Each student can print up to 1,200 pages for free each semester. The pages can be picked up in the computer cluster on the second floor of the student center when you receive a notification email after a few hours. The pages will be in black and white. Central Printing jobs are printed off site and are delivered to campus at 9:00am, 12:30pm, and 4:30pm during the weekday, so expect a couple hour delay.
